Yusof Bin Ishak was a prominent figure in Malaysian and Singaporean history. Born in Malaysia in 1910, he went on to become the first President of Singapore from 1965 until his death in 1970. He was also a journalist, founding the Malay-language newspaper Utusan Melayu. His legacy lives on in both countries.
