Conductor and music Teacher who became prominent during the last quarter of the 20th century. He taught several individuals that would go one to become famous composers.
He studied English literature at Cairo University, from which he graduated in 1961. He was awarded a scholarship in 1961 to study at the Vienna Music Academy under the famed Hans Swarowsky.
He received the Egyptian State's Decoration of Arts in 1989 for promoting Egyptian national music at home and abroad.
His parents, especially his Engineer father, advised him not to seek out a career in music, although they both encouraged his love for classical music.
He became prominent in Egypt around the same time as Demis Roussos.
