Wubbo Ockels was a Dutch physicist and astronaut who was born on March 28, 1946 in Almelo, Netherlands. He was the first Dutchman to travel to space and later joined the faculty of the Delft University of Technology. Ockels was a pioneer in the field of space exploration and his legacy lives on in the many accomplishments of the European Space Agency.
