Notable for his 2014 album Chapter of the Forest, which rose to a top twenty position on the iTunes albums chart and to a top five ranking on iTunes' singer-songwriter chart, Hall is also famous for his 2009 self-titled debut album, as well as for his early hit "Brand New Day." His music combines elements of rock, reggae, and chanting.
He began playing the harmonica at age eleven and wrote and recorded his first album at age sixteen. After training as a classical Guitarist at California's Idyllwild Arts Academy, he signed with Geffen Records and recorded a never-released album titled The Elephant's Door.
He contributed the track "Other Ways" to the Soundtrack of Shrek the Third.
He was born and raised in Hilton Head Island, South Carolina, and he later settled in Southern California.
He and Bruce Hornsby both contributed to the 2007 tribute album Endless Highway: The Music of The Band.
