Sigurd Lewerentz was a Swedish architect born on July 29, 1885. He is best known for his contributions to Functionalist architecture, such as the Malmo Opera and Music Theatre. He was also one of the main architects for the 1930 Stockholm International Exhibition.

He studied mechanical engineering at the Chalmers University of Technology in Sweden. He then apprenticed as an Architect in Germany before opening his own office in 1911.
