German ski jumper who won a gold medal at the 2014 Sochi Olympics. He also won the 2015 World Cup for ski jumping. That same year, he set the German record with a 245 meter long jump.
He first appeared in the Continental Cup in 2004.
As of January 2016, he had six jumps of more than 230 meters, enough for 7th most all-time.
He was born in Freyung, located in what was then West Germany.
