Bengali singer and Actress who appeared in the film The Namesake.
She was one of the first child students at the Uday Shankar Cultural Centre in Almora.
Her Bengali version of the song "We Shall Overcome," recorded during the 1971 Bangladesh War of Independence, became one of the best-selling Bengali records of all time.
Her mother, Sati Devi, was also a singer.
