Rigg married Simon Baker in 1998 after five years together, and the couple have three children, Stella (b. 1993), Claude (b. 1998), and Harry (b. 2001). They have lived in Los Angeles since 1996, moved back to Sydney in 2005 but returned soon after to reside in the US.

Her Australian television appearances include the television series Rafferty's Rules (in which she appeared as the daughter of the Magistrate, Michael Rafferty); the ABC TV-movies, Joh's Jury, Come In Spinner, and Naked. As a young girl she was also in the Australian film Fortress, which was about the kidnapping of a Teacher (played by Rachel Ward) and a small class of students.
