After appearing at the Edinburgh Fringe, he was spotted by a BBC producer and offered radio work. He has since appeared in numerous sitcoms, and in 2014 his persona of Mr Swallow attracted huge critical acclaim in a comic reworking of Dracula on stage. In 2017, he was similarly lauded for his portrayal of Harry Houdini in a show that transferred from Edinburgh to London's Soho theatre.

Mohammed was a cast member of BAFTA-nominated CBBC Sketch show Sorry, I've Got No Head and supported Angelos Epithemiou (as one of his radio show characters, Mr. Swallow) on his 2010 national tour.

In 2015, he joined the cast of ITV comedy The Job Lot.
