Mel Hein was an NFL center and linebacker who was born on August 22, 1909 in California. He played 15 seasons for the New York Giants and was inducted into the Pro Football Hall of Fame in 1963. He was a two-time All-Pro selection and was named to the NFL's All-Decade Team of the 1930s. He was also a member of the Giants' NFL championship teams in 1934 and 1938.
