French soccer manager and former player who captained the French national team from 1987 to 1988 and was named the 1985 French Player of the Year. He has coached a variety of clubs including Paris Saint-Germain, with whom he won several league titles, and was named the Ligue 1 Manager of the Year for 1994.
He was born in Tarifa, Spain and played youth soccer with HAVE Minguettes and St-Priest before making his professional debut in 1978.
By winning the European Cup Winners Cup with Paris Saint-Germain, he became the first French manager ever to win a major European trophy.
He married Audrey Attia in 1985.
