La Toya Yvonne Jackson was born in Gary, Indiana in May 1956. She was the fifth of ten children to her parents Joseph and Katherine Jackson. La Toya is a member of the famed Jackson family along with siblings Michael Jackson, Janet Jackson, Tito Jackson, and Jermaine Jackson. La Toya appeared in The Jacksons on CBS. She and her sister Janet Jackson formed a musical group but soon after La Toya went solo. Her self-titled debut album was released in 1980. She released five studio albums in the 80s and four more in the 90s.
In 2011 she released the EP Starting Over. She posed topless for Playboy magazine in 1989. Jackson was exiled from the family and accused her father of physical abuse.
