John Baragrey was born in 1919 in Haleyville, Alabama and attended the University of Alabama before moving to New York to pursue a career in acting. He made his Broadway debut in 1946 and went on to appear in a number of plays, including "The Enchanted", "Pride's Crossing", "The Devils", and "Murderous Angels". He also had a few film roles, including The Loves of Carmen (1948), Shockproof (1949), Pardners (1956), Gammera the Invincible (1966), and The Colossus of New York (1958). Baragrey found more success on television, appearing on a variety of shows in the 1950s and starring on the soap The Secret Storm (1954) from 1962 to 1964. He also had a role on the cult gothic soap Dark Shadows (1966). Baragrey died suddenly in 1975 at the age of 57.
