Jessica Savitch was an American journalist and television news anchor who was born on February 1, 1947 in Kennett Square, PA. She was the first female anchor of a nationally-broadcast weekend news program, anchoring New York's weekend edition of NBC Nightly News and hosting the PBS news program Frontline. She is remembered for her pioneering work in the field of broadcast journalism.
