German physician known for his 1908 paper in which he discussed what would come to be known as the Hardy-Weinberg principle. He is also recognized as the first person to explain the effect of ascertainment bias on genetic observations.
He received his M.D. in 1886 and worked as a gynecologist and obstetrician.
His paper on the Hardy-Weinberg principle went unrecognized for 35 years until Curt Stern, a German scientist, brought his findings to light.
He never married.
He and Willem Johan Kloff are both famous German Physicians.
