Peggy Fleming was an American figure skater born on July 27, 1948 in San Jose, CA. She is best known for her Olympic gold medal win in the singles competition at the 1968 Winter Olympics. She was the first American to win a gold medal in ladies' singles figure skating since the 1936 Winter Olympics.
