Patrick Pearse was an Irish activist, author, and teacher born on November 10, 1879. He is best known for his role in the 1916 Easter Rising, a rebellion against British rule in Ireland. He was a leader of the Irish Republican Brotherhood and was one of the seven signatories of the Proclamation of the Irish Republic. He was executed by the British for his role in the uprising.
