Nikolai Bukharin was a Bolshevik revolutionary and one of the first members of the Politburo. He was born on October 9, 1888 in Russia and was one of the more prominent victims of the "Moscow Trials" of the late 1930s. He was known for his thesis of "Socialism in One State", which later became one of the major cornerstones of Stalinism.
