The six-foot-one, 226-pound linebacker was drafted with the 36th overall pick during the second round of the 1999 NFL Draft by the Indianapolis Colts. He played in Indianapolis until 2002 when he signed with the Jacksonville Jaguars ahead of the start of the 2003 season. Peterson became a fixture in Jacksonville, securing the middle of the field from 2003 until 2008. He later played for the Atlanta Falcons from 2009 until 2012 before hanging up the cleats.
