Leandro Rizzuto was born in Sheridan, Wyoming in 1938. After leaving St. John's University in 1959, he helped his family set up a hair products company in their Brooklyn home, which was later named Conair. The company was successful due to their innovative pistol-shaped hair dryer. Conair later expanded into small appliances, acquiring Cuisinart in 1989. Rizzuto also owns the Cuisinart Golf Resort & Spa in Anguilla, which features a golf course designed by Greg Norman.
