This biological anthropologist, behavioral expert, love and attachment theorist, and Rutgers University professor is most famous as the author of several popular science books, including Why We Love: The Nature and Chemistry of Romantic Love and Why Him? After earning a bachelor's degree in psychology and anthropology from New York University, she received a master's degree and a doctorate from the University of Colorado at Boulder.
In her work on physiology-based personality types, she posits four basic categories of temperament: the dopamine-driven Explorer; the serotonin-dominated Builder; the testosterone-guided Director; and the oxytocin and estrogen-led Negotiator.
She was born in Canada, and she later lived in New York, Colorado, and New Jersey, U.S.A.
