Ernest Gideon Green was born on September 22, 1941 in Little Rock, AR. He was a member of the Little Rock Nine, a group of African-American students who, in 1957, became the first to attend Arkansas' Little Rock Central High School. Green was the first of the group to graduate in 1958, making him the first African-American graduate of the school.
