Danny O'Dea was a British actor and comedian who had a career spanning eight decades. He was born Peter Wrenshall and was related to actress Kay Kendall and musical comedy star Marie Kendall. He began his career in the theatre and became well-known as a fine comedy actor and a brilliant stand-up comedian. He was a regular on BBC Radio and later television, appearing on shows such as Sez Les, Let's Get Laid, Don't Tell the Wife, Carry On Laughing, Winning Streak, Bulman, The Book Tower, Jim'll Fix It, Victoria Wood and One Foot In The Grave. He also starred in pantomimes alongside stars such as Arthur Askey, Nat Jackley, Dickie Henderson, Martie Wilde, Dick Emery and Frank Ifield. His last stage appearance was in Jack and the Beanstalk in 1986, aged 84. He was also known for his role as Eli Duckett in Last of the Summer Wine, which he played until he was 90. He passed away in 2003 at the age of 91, leaving behind a daughter and two granddaughters.
