After her father's death in 1965, her brother Guenter took over the business and expanded it to include a wide range of other consumer goods and services. In 2003, Daniela and Guenter sold their combined 40% interest in the family holding company for an estimated $5 billion. They invested a portion of the funds into Mayfair SE, which acquired Germanischer Lloyd in 2006 and merged with Det Norske Veritas in 2012 to form the DNV GL Group.
