Brian Delate was born in Trenton, New Jersey, and grew up in Bucks County, Pennsylvania. After graduating high school in 1967, he served in the army in Vietnam and was decorated for his service. He then attended Bucks County Community College and Rider University, where he received a BFA in directing and acting. He moved to New York City and began his professional acting career in 1981, and has since worked in theatre, film, and television. He has worked with some of the most talented directors and actors in the industry, including William Friedkin, David Jones, Neil Jordan, Al Pacino, Jim Carrey, and Laura Linney. He has recently written, directed, and acted in his first indie feature, Soldier's Heart, which looks at the effects of PTSD caused by war. He currently resides in Los Angeles with his daughter Tirsa, who recently graduated from Bryn Mawr College.
