Bob Douglas was a pioneering figure in the world of basketball. Born in Saint Kitts And Nevis in 1884, he founded, owned and coached the New York Renaissance, leading them to success in the 1920s, 1930s and 1940s. His immense contribution to the sport earned him the title of 'The Father of Black Basketball', and in 1963 he became the first black person to be inducted into the Naismith Basketball Hall of Fame.
