Bernard A. Clarey was born on May 4, 1912 in Iowa. He was a highly decorated U.S. Navy Admiral, and served as Commander of the U.S. Pacific Fleet during the height of the Vietnam War. He was awarded the Navy Distinguished Service Medal, the Legion of Merit, and the Bronze Star for his service. He retired from the Navy in 1972 and passed away in 1995.
