Ben Johnson Jr. was an American actor, stuntman, and cowboy born on June 13, 1918 in Oklahoma. He is best known for his Academy Award-winning performance as Sam the Lion in the 1971 Western The Last Picture Show. Johnson was also a stuntman in many classic Westerns, including The Wild Bunch and The Cowboys. He was inducted into the Hall of Great Western Performers of the National Cowboy and Western Heritage Museum in 1988.
