Andrew Ellis was born on July 19, 1924 in Wythenshawe, Manchester, England, United Kingdom. He discovered his passion for acting in high school, where he was spotted by casting director Michelle Smith. This led to him being cast in the 2006 BAFTA winning film 'This is England' and other film and television productions. He has reprised his role as 'Gadget' in 'This is England' 86, 88 & 90'. In addition to his acting career, Andrew is also a writer and director, having co-written and directed a number of short films with his friend Jamie Shelton.

Ellis attended Burnside High School from 1997 to 2001.
2005
In 2005 Ellis played in the New Zealand under-21 side. His Super 14 rookie year saw him oust All Black Kevin Senio from the Crusaders starting line-up. Ellis missed the 2006 Super 14 Final after sustaining a knee injury in the semi-final against the Bulls.
2006
Although injury meant Ellis was unavailable for the 2006 All Blacks tests against Ireland and Argentina, he was later named to make his All Black debut against England at Twickenham. For the 2007 Rugby World Cup Ellis was selected ahead of Wellington halfback Piri Weepu.
2007
Ellis married his wife, Gavin Ellis in 2007, after a seven-year relationship. In December 2009 they had a daughter, Scarlett.
2011
Ellis wasn't selected for the All Blacks Squad after the 2011 Rugby World Cup until 2015 against Samoa in Apia, as Tawera Kerr-Barlow out for 2015 Super Rugby season while both Aaron Smith and TJ Perenara played for 2015 Super Rugby Final.

In 2013 Ellis joined Classic Hits FM Christchurch's breakfast show.
