Alija Izetbegovic was a Bosnian politician and the first Chairman of the Presidency of Bosnia and Herzegovina from 1990 to 1996. He was born in Samac, Bosnia and Herzegovina on August 8, 1925 and continued to serve on the three-member Presidency until 2000.
