Albert Berner was born in Kuenzelsau, Germany, and was destined to take over his father's butcher shop until he realized his dream of becoming a salesman. He worked hard to become the best and cleanest guy in town, and in 1957, at the age of 21, he founded his own one-man screw business. This business has since grown into the Berner Group, a major player in the European Maintenance, Repair and Operations (MRO) market with 9,000 employees and annual revenue of over $1 billion. Berner withdrew from the day-to-day operations in 1997, and his son Christian took over as CEO in 2012.
