Alan Shepard was an American test pilot and astronaut born on November 18, 1923 in Derry, NH. He was the first U.S. astronaut and second human being to go into space in 1961. He was also the fifth person to walk on the Moon and famously celebrated by hitting two golf balls from the Moon's surface.
