Hoyte Van Hoytema is a Dutch-Swedish cinematographer and composer who was born in Horgen, Switzerland in 1971. After being rejected twice from a film school in The Netherlands, Hoyte worked in a soap factory, carpentry factory and even played in a band. He eventually attended the Polish film school in Lodz, where he was supervised by Krzysztof Kieslowski. After leaving the school early without a degree, Hoyte started making documentaries and eventually accepted a low-budget film in Norway. This led to more work in Sweden, and his film 'Let the right one in' made him more known internationally. He is now known for his work on The Fighter (2010), Her (2013), Interstellar (2014), and Dunkirk (2017).
