He was a co-founder of Gracie Giu-Jitsu and held a 10th degree red belt in Jiu-Jitsu and a 6th degree black belt in Judo. He was a pioneer in the development of Brazilian Jiu-Jitsu and is widely regarded as one of the most influential martial artists of all time.
