After Dorothea's brother-in-law Eliezer Steinbruch (who also had control of CSN) died in 2008, she took over control of the company. Ever since, along with her three children, Dorothea shares control of Brazil's largest steelmakers with $9 billion in revenues and a $15 billion market capitalization. Her son Benjamin Steinbruch has been both a chairman and CEO of the company ever since April 30, 2002. While her other son, Ricardo, is a chairman of the family's other firm, Banco Fibra. However, the family net worth has dropped significantly (by nearly 40%) since 2011 due to a fall in the price of CSN shares. According to Forbes, the Steinbruch family is worth $5.5 billion, which makes them #136 among the richest people in the world. Widowed Dorothea has three children and currently resides in Sao Paolo.
