Early Life: He was born Bryan Keith Holland, on December 29, 1965, in Garden Grove, California. As a high school student, he started to listen punk music, especially the likes of Bad Brains, Bad Religion, Descendents, Ramones, The Sex Pistols, Social Distortion, T.S.O.L. and The Vandals. He attended the University of Southern California where he earned a B.S. in biology and an M.S. in molecular biology. He then attended USC's Keck School of Medicine. He left school before graduating but he returned to the school in 2017 and was awarded with a Ph.D. degree in molecular biology.

In this period, Holland started off as a karaoke singer in a local bar and came up with an idea of starting a band. In 1984 he formed a band called "Manic Subsidal" with future Offspring co-founder, guitarist Greg K.

The band changed their name to "The Offspring" in 1985, and added "Noodles" as guitarist. Spending several years on the local scene, they finally released their first album, simply titled "The Offspring", in 1989. Their subsequent studio releases "Ignition" (1992) and "Smash" (1994) brought The Offspring mainstream success with hit singles as "Come Out and Play" and "Self-Esteem". The Offspring has been very successful ever since, releasing additional albums such as "Ixnay on the Hombre" (1997), "Americana" (1998), "Conspiracy of One" (2000) and "Splinter" (2003).

Other Interests: In addition to the work with his band, Dexter Holland has his own record label known as Nitro Records famous for re-issuing the bands first ever album. He is a licensed pilot and became a certified flight instructor in 2009.

In 2004 he launched the hot sauce brand known as Gringo Bandito. As of this writing, Gringo has sold well over two million bottles and is available in more than 500 restaurants, and 7,000 supermarkets.
