Clyde Tombaugh was an American astronomer born on February 4, 1906 in Streator, IL. He is best known for his discovery of Pluto in 1930, which was later reclassified as a dwarf planet. In addition to his discovery of Pluto, Tombaugh also discovered nearly 800 asteroids, numerous stars, and galaxy clusters.
