Catherine of Aragon was born in Spain on December 16, 1485 and is best remembered as the first wife of King Henry VIII. She was Queen of England from 1509 until her marriage to the king was annulled in 1533. During their marriage, Catherine and Henry had three sons and two daughters who died as infants, as well as one surviving daughter, Mary I, who later became Queen of England and was known as "Bloody Mary".
